Grasstains executed a sophisticated landscape plan for this historic Ladd’s Addition property, navigating the unique challenge of contrasting micro-climates on a single site. The project delivers a dual-zone experience: a lush, contemplative full-shade front garden and a high-energy, full-sun backyard designed for both social interaction and horticultural exploration. Every element was curated to support the client's avid interest in gardening while providing a highly functional environment for daily life.

The front shade garden utilized a texture-rich planting palette that thrives in low light, creating a serene entry experience. In contrast, the backyard was transformed into a sun-drenched social hub, intentionally scaled to maximize "hangout space" comfortably accommodating 4–6 people for gatherings. By integrating precise soil preparation and smart irrigation, we ensured that the diverse botanical collection remains vibrant and maintainable throughout the Pacific Northwest seasons.
