Grasstains brought an imaginative English cottage vision to life in the heart of Southwest Portland’s Multnomah Village, creating a whimsical retreat that prioritizes a "wild" aesthetic and effortless low maintenance. The project focused on breaking away from rigid lines, instead allowing the landscape to evolve organically through soft pathways and sprawling ground covers. By pairing artisanal structural elements with intentionally dense plantings, we delivered a sanctuary that feels both established and enchanting.

The garden's character is defined by a new ornamental fence that provides a charming, traditional frame for the lush greenery within. We encouraged an immersive experience by letting ground covers creep naturally through the soft, organic pathways, blurring the lines between structural transit and living garden. The result is a vibrant, low-impact landscape that offers year-round visual interest while supporting the local ecosystem and the client's desire for a carefree outdoor escape in this historic Southwest Portland neighborhood.
